Sarah
 Schmidt is a contemporary figurative oil painter living and painting out of the beautiful mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Growing up in Northern Virginia, Sarah was always drawing and painting, she began her formal art education at the Corcoran School of Art during high school. In college she studied Illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design, which led to a decade-long career as a watercolor illustrator in Austin, Texas.

Driven by a love for figure painting, Sarah began studying oil painting under contemporary figure painter Jennifer Balkan. After traveling around a bit Sarah landed in Crested Butte and serendipitously began of her professional fine art career, where she has been showing her fine art since 2018, she has had two solo exhibitions with the Crested Butte Center for the Arts, and she has been commissioned for multiple public art pieces by the Creative District.

Sarah’s art captures the interplay between the human form and nature, using vibrant colors and expressive compositions to immerse viewers in moments of beauty and connection.
